The Opportunity

Engineer Manager / Team Lead

As an Engineering Manager / Team Lead, you will spearhead the team responsible for the Technician Installer App. Your primary focus will be on developing improvements to streamline how our technicians install devices. With over 200,000 devices already deployed, there is a significant opportunity to enhance the installation process, ensuring both speed and quality. By improving the technician experience, you will directly impact core company growth metrics by increasing the number of installs per technician per day and the rate of first-time, correct installs. Furthermore, Flock plans to introduce multiple new devices, each requiring customized installation processes, which will be integrated into this application. This role is ideal for a talented leader and developer with strong consumer empathy, eager to work on a project that directly influences Flock's growth and overall success.

The Skillset

Responsibilities:

• Develop the Installer App, a suite of cloud-based software and a native Android application that supports the installation and maintenance of thousands of IoT devices.
• Collaborate directly with technicians, UX designers, and product managers to understand use cases and ensure a high-quality user experience.
• Develop features and implement improvements for current workflows related to installing new devices such as Falcons, Ravens, and more.
• Add support for new product lines scheduled for release in 2026.
• Conduct code reviews and provide support to other developers contributing to the install codebase.
• Coach direct reports to foster a highly productive team.

Technical Requirements:

• Experience in back-end development, with a strong emphasis on cloud development and distributed systems, particularly within the AWS ecosystem.
• Proficiency working with TypeScript, NodeJS, and Kotlin.
• Familiarity with integrating third-party APIs.
• Proven experience with Android Mobile development.
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills and confidence in leading a team of engineers.
