Senior Software QA Engineer

Position Overview

Motive is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Software QA Engineer to lead quality assurance efforts across multiple product segments. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality and stability of our software through both manual and automated testing. You will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to drive testing initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Test Strategy: Collaborate with product, development, and QA teams to create comprehensive test strategies covering functional and regression testing.
• Test Execution: Design, implement, and execute test cases for new features, enhancements, and bug fixes across multiple environments (preview, staging, and production).
• Automation: Lead efforts to expand automation coverage, reducing manual testing and enabling faster release cycles.
• Issue Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis of customer-reported issues and work with cross-functional teams to drive resolutions.
• Defect Management: Ensure timely identification, documentation, and tracking of defects. Work closely with developers to facilitate efficient bug fixing.
• Monitoring & Prioritization: Monitor and track customer-reported issues in collaboration with support and development teams, analyzing trends and prioritizing solutions.
• Mentorship: Mentor junior QA engineers and foster a collaborative, high-performance QA team culture.
• Vision & Roadmap: Provide insights to the QA vision and roadmap, aligning with organizational goals for quality and user experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in quality assurance with both manual and automated testing.
• Proficient in test design, execution, and QA principles; capable of managing moderately complex QA tasks.
• Experience in planning and coordinating test strategies with cross-functional teams for high-impact product features.
• Customer-first testing approach, particularly for key user journeys. Ability to document and triage defects based on user impact.
• Strong ability to identify, analyze, and troubleshoot issues effectively.
• Hands-on experience with defect tracking tools.
• Skilled in functional and non-functional testing.
• Hands-on experience with test automation and proficiency in Java or another programming language, with foundational knowledge of OOP, data structures, and algorithms.
• Contributes to a knowledge-sharing environment and proactively expands skills in automation, tools, and defect tracking.
• Strong communication skills for discussing defects and solutions with developers and collaborating effectively across teams.
• Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience in fast-paced, agile environments.
