Astral is building next-generation developer tools for the Python ecosystem. They've created Ruff (a Python linter and formatter) and uv (a Python package manager), and are now building a state-of-the-art type checker and hosted services. The team includes contributors from projects like ripgrep, bat, hyperfine, and maturin.
This role involves building the company's first hosted product, a full-stack, greenfield effort integrated with Astral's open-source tooling. The candidate will be part of a small, rapidly iterating team working alongside the CEO. They will significantly influence the technical stack and direction of the product.
The hiring process is entirely remote and does not include live coding segments. It consists of three phases:
Provides launch services for small satellites
