As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex software capabilities for computer-based systems. You will work closely with other talented engineers to create software solutions that meet the needs of our clients.

Requirements

• Citizenship: United States Citizenship is required due to federal contract requirements.
• Security Clearance: A current Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance is required with the ability to obtain TS/SCI level clearance. A current TS/SCI is a huge plus.
• Experience:
  • At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java Frameworks and Libraries (e.g. Spring, Guava) and a Bachelors in a related field.
  • 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters in a related field.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience.
• Work Environment: Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 2-3 days per week on customer site in Columbia, MD. Flexibility is essential to accommodate any changes in the schedule.
• Core Capabilities:
  • Strong working knowledge and experience developing Java-based software capabilities.
  • Inquisitive nature, responsiveness, and excellent testing skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, small business environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement complex software capabilities for computer-based systems.
• Work closely with other talented engineers to create software solutions that meet client needs.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Technical Skills

• Experience in designing enterprise APIs
• Experience in RESTful web services
• Experience in Microservices architecture
• Experience in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) paradigms
• Experience with the agile software lifecycle
• Proven ability to learn quickly and work well both independently and in a team setting
• Experience with the Linux operating system
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven)

Desired Technical Skills

• A current TS/SCI clearance is preferred. CI Poly is a plus.
• Experience with NiFi, Kafka, AWS Infrastructure, and K8's.
• Experience in cloud-based technologies (AWS, Azure).
• Experience in distributed databases, NoSQL databases, full text-search engines (e.g. Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr).
• Scripting experience is a huge plus.
• Prior experience or familiarity with our Big Data Platform is a plus.
• Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.).
