Requirements

Candidates must possess 8+ years of production-level coding experience, including at least 5 years working directly with C++ and hands-on experience with Chromium development. The role requires flexibility to work across the entire tech stack, including learning Swift, and experience independently running critical projects with minimal guidance. Pragmatism, motivation by nebulous problems, and excitement for a startup environment with quick product validation cycles are essential. Candidates must also have 4+ hours of overlap time with team members in the Eastern Time Zone.

Responsibilities

The Software Engineer will design and spearhead projects for improving Chromium architecture and building new features in partnership with Product Engineers. They will participate in the Chromium engineering on-call rotation, stay up to date with upstream changes, respond to incidents, and support major Chromium upgrades and releases. Responsibilities include increasing engineering team iteration speed by improving the Chromium codebase with security and infrastructure updates, advising and directing fellow engineers on Chromium architecture and capabilities, and creating new APIs and optimizing existing ones for seamless integration with the product codebase. The engineer will also interact with the broader Chromium community, collaborating with core contributors as needed.
