The Role

  • Department: Infrastructure
  • Focus: Designing, deploying, and continuously improving the infrastructure supporting Alchemy's developer platform, with a focus on enhancing developer productivity and ensuring product reliability.

What You'll Do

  • Reliability Focus: Set high standards for Reliability at Alchemy.
  • Best Practices: Develop and own company-wide Reliability best practices (SLO definition, incident management, postmortem reviews, launch readiness reviews, change management).
  • Architecture: Architect production infrastructure and tools that encourage and enforce high reliability.
  • Influence: Inspire the broader engineering organization to ensure Reliability is a first-class citizen in the products they build.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate, partner, advise, review, and mentor engineering teams on Reliability topics.
  • Infrastructure Improvements: Improve critical infrastructure and systems used to operate infrastructure at scale (compute, networking, deployment, observability, code tooling/libraries).
  • Best Practices (Operations): Develop and own best practices for managing production infrastructure: provisioning, application scaling, configuration management, capacity planning, monitoring, etc.
  • Developer Processes: Develop and own best practices for developer processes: CI/CD, dev and staging environments, etc.
  • Long-Term Requirements: Provide input into long-term platform requirements and operational guidelines with a focus on reliability.
  • Engineering Excellence: Continuously raise our standard of engineering excellence by implementing best practices for coding, testing.
