Technical Revenue Senior Manager

Salary: $186.8K - $219.4K Location Type: Remote Employment Type: FullTime

Position Overview

Confluent is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Revenue Senior Manager to play a key role in shaping the revenue accounting framework for a cutting-edge consumption revenue model within a high-growth, fast-paced environment. In this highly visible position, you will partner directly with accounting leadership and business stakeholders to drive complex revenue assessments and develop critical accounting policies that support our subscription and usage-based offerings. Your expertise will have a direct impact on scaling and optimizing how we recognize revenue transactions, with an opportunity to influence business decisions and contribute to Confluent’s continued success as an industry leader.

Due to the fast-paced and high growth nature of the Company, the candidate must be detail-oriented, maintain an inquisitive mindset, and have the ability to operate effectively and independently in a dynamic environment to help drive Confluent’s continued growth.

The ideal candidate is an experienced CPA with 8+ years of total progressively responsible experience and with a combination of Big 4 and public company technical revenue experience in the software industry.

Responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership by establishing, developing, and maintaining Confluent’s revenue accounting policies, while proactively monitoring, interpreting, and implementing new revenue accounting standards—including assessing their impact on financial statements and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Serve as the finance organization’s subject matter expert on revenue accounting and support business growth by preparing technical accounting memorandums for non-standard contracts and new offerings, advising sales and growth teams on deal structures with a focus on revenue accounting impact, and assisting in negotiating, reviewing, and checklisting new revenue contracts.
  • Collaborate on new product introductions; partner with product management, engineering, and GTM to assess the impact on revenue recognition, operational impact, scalability, and business risk.
  • Work closely with Confluent’s external auditors to ensure approved revenue policies are adhered to, align on new and developing revenue topics and transactions, and ensure all audit and SEC reporting deliverables are met.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA and Big 4 experience preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience, with 5+ years of audit or advisory experience with revenue accounting and direct industry experience.
  • Precise, analytical, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, particularly revenue recognition (ASC 606) for SaaS and on-premise software, with a preference for usage-based SaaS.
  • Proven ability to research complex accounting issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the company.
