We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and scaling of our cloud services and APIs for Zoox’s production-grade robotaxi service. This includes dispatch, routing, payments, mobile APIs, telemetry processing, and service metrics.

Requirements

Experience: 8+ years of cloud software experience.
Backend Systems: Extensive experience with the design, implementation, and operation of backend microservices.
Programming Languages: Proficiency with Kotlin or Java, REST APIs, and SQL.
Cloud Infrastructure: Experience running production services using cloud infrastructure such as Kubernetes and Docker.

Responsibilities

Design and Build: Design and build scalable, efficient, and robust backend systems for Zoox’s ride-hailing service.
Core Functionality: Own core functionality such as payments, fleet dispatch, and service management.
Roadmaps & Execution: Make significant contributions to technical roadmaps, development plans, and execute on them effectively.
Engineering Excellence: Uphold engineering excellence through design reviews, code reviews, software testing, and documentation.

Bonus Qualifications

Architecture: Experience with Spring Boot based microservice architectures.
Databases: Experience with PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch.
Domain Expertise: Experience in transportation, robotics, logistics, or autonomous vehicles.
Event-Driven Architecture: Experience with event-driven architecture and Kafka.

Compensation

Components: Salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights.
Salary Range: $203,000 - $293,000 (Range)
Sign-on Bonus: May be offered.
