Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a Master’s degree being a plus. They should have at least 5 years of experience in mechanical design and analysis, specifically within the aerospace or satellite industry. Proficiency in CAD software such as NX or SolidWorks is required, alongside a strong understanding of structural analysis techniques including finite element analysis (FEA) and hand calculations, as well as drafting standards like GD&T. Familiarity with manufacturing processes for aerospace-grade materials and components, along with knowledge of environmental testing procedures and standards for space applications, is also necessary. U.S. Person status is required.
The Senior Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing mechanical designs and models for satellite structures, subsystems, and components. They will conduct structural analyses to ensure compliance with performance and reliability requirements, optimize designs for weight reduction, material selection, and manufacturability, and evaluate appropriate materials and processes. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems with other subsystems, participate in the assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) process, perform environmental testing, prepare technical documentation, maintain accurate records, generate reports and presentations, and stay updated on advancements in satellite engineering. Furthermore, they will identify areas for improvement in design methodologies and contribute to research and development projects.
