Requirements

  • B.Tech/M.Tech/BSc/MSc in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • 7-8 years of industry experience with a proven track record of ownership
  • Worked/contributed on large scale distributed systems
  • Object-oriented experience, for example in Java, Scala, Ruby, or C++
  • Understanding the performance characteristics of commonly used data structures (maps, lists, trees, etc)
  • Desire to learn Scala
  • Experience in multi-threaded programming
  • Experience in running large scalable distributed services following a microservice architecture
  • Happy working with Unix (Linux, OS X) (desirable)
  • Agile software development experience (test-driven development, iterative and incremental development) (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Develop features using algorithms that work optimally on very large data sets
  • Innovate to improve the performance and optimise costs of the query engine
  • Follow test-driven development
  • Write robust & re-usable code, demonstrate its robustness through automated tests
  • Own microservices, analyse and improve the efficiency, scalability, reliability and cost for the same
  • Help the team respond quickly and effectively to business needs
  • Act as a primary on-call for owned services, responding to service degradations in a timely manner
