As climate change amplifies the intensity of wildfires—with longer fire seasons, dryer fuels, and faster winds—new ignitions spread faster and put more communities at risk. Today, most wildfires are detected by bystanders and reported via 911, meaning it can take hours to detect a fire, verify its exact location and size, and dispatch first responders. Fire authorities need a faster way to detect, confirm, and pinpoint fires so that they can quickly respond—preventing small flare-ups from becoming devastating infernos.

The Role

For the Senior Software Engineer role, we’re looking for somebody who will drive major projects in unlocking new end-to-end capabilities for our users while building scalable, secure, and maintainable production systems. At Pano, team members take ownership of what they do, and our approach to problem-solving relies heavily upon creativity, communication, and collaboration.

The ideal candidate is humble, hungry, and people-smart. They have experience building products across the entire stack and a firm understanding of web technologies, APIs, databases, and both frontend and backend programming languages - including TypeScript/React, Java, and Python.

What You’ll Do:

• Work with your teammates across the entire stack, building highly scalable solutions that enable positive impact for our users and our business.
• Develop new features as well as tools, frameworks, and workflows in support of rapidly emerging business and project requirements.
• Drive new projects, from conceptualization to deployment.
• Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, and maintain high standards for code quality, maintainability, security, and application design.
• Work with agile development methodologies, adhering to best practices and pursuing continued learning opportunities.
• Participate in on-call rotation to respond to, triage, mitigate, and resolve production issues.
• Create run-books, metrics, and dashboards.

What You’ll Bring:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Software Engineer.
• 3+ years of professional experience in a fast-paced SaaS or a similar business environment.
• Expertise in front-end technologies, including JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS3, HTML5, and third-party SPA frameworks such as React.
• Experience with server-side Java software development, with modern frameworks and methodologies.
