Position Overview

This team is responsible for the management of Live and Linear airings across the Disney+ and Hulu spaces. This means ingesting airings as CNF from Metal, managing linear schedules to ensure no gaps or overlaps between airings on a single channel, contract resolution for blackout or features such as replay/lookback, as well as tools for the management of airings, live events, and stream health and fallback logic.

Responsibilities

  • Craft web applications specific to the managing of live and linear scheduling for the DTC services.
  • Manage AWS infrastructure supporting the EPG and scheduling ecosystems.
  • Work on improving system scale and throughput for handling high concurrency.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Build quality products.
  • Provide on-call rotational support as needed.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years developing software products.
  • Experience in programming with Java or any other Object-oriented programming language.
  • Advanced level of English.
  • Experience with AWS and cloud infrastructure.
  • Media player integration in web apps.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility and standards.
  • Familiar with async programming (promises, async/await, etc.).
  • Understanding of concurrency and threading.
  • Skilled in Git, CI/CD, Jenkins, Docker (is a plus).
  • Experience with messaging systems (Kafka, Kinesis, SQS) is a plus.
