Requirements

  • Experience with managing a large scale fleet of Kubernetes clusters with a true software engineering mindset
  • Experience with developing and operating SaaS infrastructure or managing a large scale internal compute platform
  • Experience with software engineering expertise in Golang or similar languages
  • Passion for reliability and operational excellence
  • Experience with Kubernetes-based workloads and managed Kubernetes offerings
  • Understanding of how to build with security and isolation in mind
  • Strong communication skills with experience in working with a globally distributed team
  • Proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues with a focus on ownership and accountability
  • Experience as part of an on-call rotation
  • Bonus points if experience working on a SaaS/PaaS product across multiple cloud providers with a 'single tenant data plane' model
  • Experience with programmatically administered Kubernetes in multiple clouds
  • Experience designing systems for resiliency, scale, and security
  • Familiarity with Non-Abstract Systems design
  • Experience with the Calico/Azure CNI/Cilium, PostgreSQL/Aurora/CloudSQL/etc, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Chronosphere, Splunk, Istio, Karpenter, Falco technologies
  • Experience with the innate technologies (Deep breath)

Responsibilities

  • Own key endpoints and features of the Astro product to extend our offering to more complex customer networking options
  • Work across domains to develop diverse features for the core infrastructure (workload identity, multitenancy, cross region disaster recovery, cloud resource management, private network access)
  • Evolve the fleet orchestration system to enable us to safely make (and roll back) changes across our infrastructure
  • Scale from 500+ clusters to thousands in the future
  • Manage the data pipelines of many of the largest companies in the world
  • Work with managed Kubernetes offerings and network/auth primitives from AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Gain experience working in a multi-cloud environment
  • Develop and operate Kubernetes-based workloads
  • Design systems for resiliency, scale, and security
  • Identify and address issues proactively with a focus on ownership and accountability
  • Communicate effectively with a globally distributed team
  • Participate in on-call rotations for the services and systems owned
