Requirements

  • Sufficient software knowledge and experience to understand technical solutions towards meeting customers’ needs
  • Ability to plan for project deliverables and manage the project team towards meeting schedule, cost, and high quality
  • Ability to communicate technical solutions and issues clearly to management and project members
  • Ability to capture and analyze customer’s needs to understand design and solutions
  • Experience with MS Office tools
  • BS/BA degree in CS, EE, or related field, or relevant coursework, or typically 3+ years of work experience in a related field (MS degree preferred)
  • Preferred: Experience in programming languages such as C++, C#, and Java
  • Preferred: Experience with operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Android, and iOS
  • Preferred: Experience with multi-tasking systems and real-time application development (e.g., threading, semaphores, processes)
  • Preferred: Experience with low-level real-time system development (e.g., interrupts, device drivers)
  • Preferred: Experience with Object-Oriented Analysis and Design concepts
  • Preferred: Experience and knowledge of software development process for medical device industry
  • Preferred: Ability to lead and manage a multi-site team cohesively
  • Preferred: Ability to identify initiatives for process improvement
  • Preferred: Experience with tools such as Install Aware, AccuRev, and ClearQuest
  • Preferred: Knowledge of hardware breadboards, PC hardware system interfaces, and embedded systems

Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering custom in-house software tools for Implantable Device Firmware projects to meet short-term and long-term customer goals
  • Managing delivery of tool projects to meet customers’ needs in functionalities, performance, time, and cost
  • Reporting project progress to upper management and customers
  • Working from requirement specifications to develop, maintain, and update test requirements and design
  • Supporting implementation, new creation, enhancements, and modifications to software tools applications
  • Debugging, troubleshooting, and isolating software problems and offering strategic advice for future development
  • Developing design concepts (e.g., parameters, structure, core components)
  • Presenting at design reviews, documenting, and resolving issues as directed
  • Contributing to and supporting reviews held by other engineers on related projects and providing useful feedback
  • Contributing to and supporting a variety of development and test phase efforts
  • Writing and updating requirement specifications for an assigned area
  • Reviewing project deliverables such as specifications, code, and test/tool procedures for feasibility, thoroughness, clarity, correctness, and accuracy
  • Complying with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments
  • Maintaining positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
