Candidates should possess 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin, and a track record of developing highly available distributed systems utilizing technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. They should also have experience defining a technical plan for delivering a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple, and extensible design, and demonstrate proficiency in making significant changes within a large codebase, along with the ability to write high-quality, easily understandable code. Furthermore, candidates should exhibit ownership of their growth through proactive feedback seeking and strong communication skills, and either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for owning and delivering quarterly goals for their team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, and ensuring team support throughout delivery. They will collaborate with product management, design, and analytics, participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs. The role involves proactively identifying project, process, technology, or business issues, advocating for solutions, and leading in their resolution. They will support the operations and availability of their team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and participating in on-call efforts. Additionally, they will foster a culture of quality and ownership on their team by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them beyond their team through writing and tech talks, while also helping develop talent on their team by providing feedback and guidance.
