Position Overview

We are seeking experienced engineers who have built and deployed AI systems to production. In this role, you will design and build native AI features to elevate our core product, working closely with product, design, and engineering teams to craft seamless AI-powered experiences such as vector-powered search, proactive suggestions, and agentic systems. We are committed to keeping Linear fast, intuitive, and opinionated, and this applies to our AI integrations as well.

Responsibilities

• Build AI-powered product features that feel native, fast, and delightful to use.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to prototype and iterate on intelligent workflows and user interactions.
• Design backend services to power natural language interfaces, smart suggestions, agentic workloads, and more.
• Optimize prompts, fine-tune model behavior, and evaluate performance.
• Contribute to guiding our agent platform, enabling third parties to integrate agents into the core Linear experience as teammates.
• Help shape the architecture for reliable and privacy-aware AI-integration infrastructure.

• Backend: TypeScript and Node.js
• APIs: GraphQL APIs and WebSocket-based real-time sync
• AI: Public and private AI models
• Workloads: Temporal for async workloads
• Storage & Caching: Postgres, Redis, and Turbopuffer
• Infrastructure: Hosted on Google Cloud with Kubernetes
• Collaboration Tools: GitHub, Slack, Notion
