Requirements

Candidates should have 5+ years of software development experience focusing on data-intensive solutions. Strong proficiency in Java and the JVM ecosystem, including memory management, garbage collection tuning, and performance profiling, is required. Solid experience with concurrent programming in Java, including threads, executors, and reactive or asynchronous patterns, is also necessary. Experience developing or working with connectors, sinks, or sources for big data processing frameworks like Apache Spark, Flink, Beam, or Kafka Connect is essential. A strong understanding of database fundamentals, including SQL, data modeling, query optimization, and OLAP/analytical databases, is required. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration. A passion for open-source development and community engagement is expected. Bonus points for prior contributions to open-source projects, familiarity with ClickHouse or similar platforms, expertise in building sinks or source connectors, working knowledge of Python in data engineering contexts, and understanding of JDBC and network protocols.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will serve as a core contributor, owning and maintaining critical parts of ClickHouse's data engineering ecosystem. You will craft tools that enable Data Engineers to harness ClickHouse's speed and scale. You will own the full lifecycle of data framework integrations, from core database drivers to SDKs and connectors for JVM-based applications. Your work will directly impact how companies process massive datasets and you will collaborate closely with the open-source community, internal teams, and enterprise users to ensure JVM integrations set the standard for performance, reliability, and developer experience.
