Senior Software Engineer - Storefront Team

Position Overview

BigCommerce is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our distributed Storefront Team. This team is instrumental in maintaining and enhancing the Storefront Environment, which is critical for our merchants' customers to browse products and make purchases. We are a small, collaborative team that works across the entire Engineering organization.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve services powering the BigCommerce’s Storefront Environment.
• Support bug fixes and implement enhancements for applications in production.
• Mentor and assist engineers in becoming more productive by removing blockers.
• Produce technical documentation for workflows related to the Storefront.
• Collaborate effectively with a team distributed across US and EU timezones.
• Work closely with engineers to gather requirements and contribute to the team’s roadmap development.
• Be comfortable exploring and engaging with unfamiliar languages, tools, and technologies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer.
• Experience developing in Scala and PHP.
• Experience with Javascript and/or gRPC is a bonus.
• Proven experience with evolving and scaling high-throughput applications.
• Ability to contribute to project discovery, design, and implementation.
• A desire to work in a collaborative, open, and Agile team environment as both a contributor and mentor.
• Fluent in English.

Education

• BS degree required, or a higher degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
