Senior Software Engineer - Hudl Focus Cameras

Position Overview

At Hudl, we build great teams and foster a culture where everyone feels supported. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our hardware team, focusing on building end-to-end capabilities for our Hudl Focus cameras. These autonomous cameras use edge AI to automatically track action and upload directly to the cloud, providing seamless access to video and insights for our customers.

Your Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the hardware team, you will:

  • Collaborate: Work closely with teammates from engineering, quality, design, product, and scrum to enhance and support Hudl’s hardware products. Leverage your full-stack web/mobile skills with computer vision and video to ship cutting-edge features.
  • Develop and Deliver: Have the autonomy to make meaningful improvements across the entire product, from on-camera support software to backend systems and mobile apps. You will be empowered to take ownership of the whole user experience.
  • Be a Key Technical Leader: Contribute to our rapid iteration and deployment cycles (hundreds of times a day). Support the team by breaking down complex engineering problems, advocating for best practices, and guiding others.

We are currently considering candidates who live within commuting distance of our offices in Den Bosch. Our flexible work policy means there are no current requirements for the number of days you come to the office.

Requirements (Must-Haves)

  • Full-Stack Web Application Experience: Several years of experience building across many levels of a web application, from client-side code to the database.
  • Team Player: Understand that building excellent software is a team effort. Willing to collaborate, provide input in technical discussions, assist teammates, and provide quality feedback in code reviews.
  • Mentor Mentality: Believe in the multiplier mindset and understand that your growth is tied to the growth of those around you. Enjoy helping fellow engineers hone their skills.
  • Adaptable: Accustomed to working with many possible implementation options and identifying the one that pragmatically balances quality, consistency, and delivering immediate customer value.
  • Bias Towards Action: Act decisively, tackle challenges head-on, and prioritize outcomes, even when details are not perfectly clear. Comfortable stepping outside role definitions to maintain momentum and deliver results.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Professional Background: Experience with C#, React, MongoDB, and/or AWS. Adjacent languages, frameworks, and services used at scale are relevant.
  • Mobile Development Know-How: Experience with React Native is a useful bonus, as Hudl heavily invests in it for our camera management experience on iOS and Android. Experience with native iOS or Android development would also be an asset.
