SailPoint is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join their Developer Experience team. This role focuses on building Python SDKs and Frameworks for their big data platform. The ideal candidate is a passionate, experienced backend engineer focused on delivering reliable, scalable code and infrastructure for SaaS products. This is a unique opportunity to build a critical component from the ground up with a significant internal client base.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver efficient, performant, and maintainable Python-based SDKs and Frameworks.
  • Produce designs, rough estimates, and implement features based on requirements.
  • Collaborate with peers on designs, code reviews, and testing.
  • Participate in team grooming and planning activities.
  • Influence priorities for technical items in collaboration with the team lead and manager.
  • Produce unit and end-to-end tests to improve code quality and maximize code coverage.
  • Ensure code quality through unit, integration, and development testing.
  • Contribute to the training and onboarding of new resources.
  • Give product demos to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to resolving customer queries and escalations.
  • Create new environments as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in server-side, backend programming with Python and associated frameworks.
  • Good understanding of Web Services (REST), Micro-Services, and SaaS Development.
  • Experience designing solutions using cloud-native technologies from AWS.
  • Experience using microservices in a multi-tenant SaaS application.
  • Experience using RESTful APIs for an API-first application architecture.
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL, EKS, Kafka, Redis.
  • Experience with logging, monitoring, alerting, and visualization tools like Kibana, Prometheus, Grafana.
  • Experience working with remote teams (US time zones).
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with strong communication skills, excellent organizational and planning skills, and the ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently.

Good to Have

  • Automation experience handling automation frameworks, backend API, and UI automation.
  • Knowledge and testing experience with Amazon AWS (S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Docker, including deployment, container spin-up, grid, and scaling.
  • Experience working with JIRA for Agile Development, Defect Management, and Test Case Management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS.
  • Experience with Continuous Delivery.
  • Experience working on a Big Data/Machine Learning product.
  • Experience instrumenting code for gathering production performance metrics.

What Success Looks Like

  • Within the first 30 days: Onboard, understand the product and technology, meet peers and stakeholders, set up the development environment, and deliver first work tasks.
  • By 90 days: Proactively implement enhancements and defect fixes, interacting independently with stakeholders and team members. Contribute to project development alongside less experienced engineers.
  • By 6 months: Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering Manager to estimate and deliver features.
