Requirements

Candidates should possess strong prior experience on full-stack development teams, experience with multiple programming languages, and an understanding of large language models and their application. Past hands-on experience with LLMs, embeddings, and related technologies is highly valued, along with demonstrated ability to own complex features and drive technical decisions. Experience building and deploying systems at scale, combined with strong collaboration skills and experience working on cross-functional teams, is also required.

Responsibilities

The Senior Software Engineer will work across multiple codebases and technologies to integrate AI features across Canvas LMS and our other products, collaborating with existing product, design, and engineering teams to define, design, and implement AI and ML features. They will own feature development from conception to release, including architecture, implementation, and scale, and establish organization best practices for LLM use including prompt guidelines, context management, cost policy, and responsible AI use. The role also involves participating in rapid prototyping and experimentation to discover novel applications of AI in education, and contributing to technical design and code reviews to shape the AI roadmap and strategy.
