Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting level 1 security clearance (required)
  • Australian Government Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance (required)
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience in IT, cybersecurity, or related field (mandatory)
  • Professional certifications (CISSP, CISM) (highly regarded)
  • Deep knowledge of security principles, practices, and technologies (EDR, SIEM, vulnerability management, incident response)
  • Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, ISM, SOC 2)
  • Strong understanding of network and cloud security (AWS, Azure), firewalls, IDS/IPS, and technical architecture

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain security policies and standards aligned to ISO27001 or other frameworks
  • Implement tools and procedures to achieve security and compliance objectives
  • Manage documentation, audits, corrective actions, and ISMS effectiveness
  • Monitor security events and alerts across systems and networks
  • Lead incident response activities and ensure response plans are tested and well performing
  • Identify, assess, and prioritise security risks and treatment plans
  • Ensure the security awareness training program is effective and consistently delivered
  • Design, configure, and maintain security tools (EDR, SIEM, content filtering, vulnerability scanners)
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the security function
  • Ensure effective implementation of security controls and maintain compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal security frameworks
