Requirements

Candidates should possess deep incident response experience, including leading or contributing to major security incident investigations and developing playbooks, processes, and tooling. A passion for automation, demonstrated through building or implementing automated workflows to reduce MTTR and increase consistency in security operations, is essential. A strong engineering foundation, including comfort writing production-quality code and building internal tools and systems in support of security operations, is also required. Familiarity with Python 3, TypeScript, AWS, Datadog, and security tooling like Snyk and Semgrep is beneficial.

Responsibilities

The Senior Security Engineer will lead security incident response readiness and execution by designing, building, and refining incident response processes, playbooks, tooling, and automations. They will automate security workflows to streamline detection triage, investigation, and response, integrating with internal systems and third-party platforms. Responsibilities also include closing the loop by mitigating identified risks with Engineering and Trust teams, building and maintaining response infrastructure such as systems and integrations for alerting, case management, and incident tracking, and continuously improving event coverage by ensuring visibility across environments and closing telemetry gaps. Additionally, the role involves supporting broader security operations, including vulnerability management, penetration testing coordination, and security reviews, to scale Headway's security posture through automation and repeatable processes.
