Machine Learning Lead (R&D)
PanoptoFull Time
Expert & Leadership (9+ years)
Candidates should possess an advanced degree (MS/PhD preferred) in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, or a related field. A deep understanding of inkjet printing principles, including drop formation, printhead design, and process parameters, is essential. Proven experience in ink formulation and characterization, with a focus on rheology, surface tension, and particle-size control, is required. A background in ceramics processing, sintering behavior, and material interactions is necessary, along with a demonstrated ability to solve complex printing issues like nozzle clogging, pooling, and banding. Experience in scaling production processes, maintaining consistency across multiple lines/machines, and strong experimental design and root-cause-analysis skills are also required. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities are crucial, as is the ability to present to executive teams in a fast-paced environment. Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 30% of the time is expected. Experience in high-growth startups is a plus.
The Senior R&D Inkjet Engineer will lead R&D projects to design, develop, and optimize inkjet finishing processes for dental appliances. Key responsibilities include driving the formulation and selection of ceramic-compatible, sinterable inks with controlled rheology and particle-size distribution. The role involves evaluating and selecting suitable inkjet technologies, printhead types, and machine platforms for dental use-cases. Addressing critical challenges such as ink pooling on curved substrates, printhead clogging, and banding artifacts is a primary duty. The engineer will conduct root-cause analyses and design experiments to resolve print quality issues, and develop and validate surface-preparation and pretreatment strategies to improve wetting and adhesion. Establishing robust process controls and calibration methods for consistency across multiple production lines and machines is essential. Collaboration with suppliers for co-development or specification of custom inks is expected. The role also includes defining maintenance protocols and ink-handling best practices, providing thought leadership on integrating inkjet processes into the digital dental workflow, and training/mentoring technical teams. Publishing and presenting findings internally and externally to establish the company as an innovation leader is also a responsibility. Setting bold targets and driving plans to achieve them will be a key aspect of the role.
Digital dental lab services and software
Dandy provides digital dentistry solutions to dental practices across the United States, enabling them to transition from traditional methods to modern digital techniques. Their services include digital scanning, design, and manufacturing of dental prosthetics such as dentures and implants. Dandy's proprietary Chairside software simplifies the scanning process, allowing dental professionals to perform complex procedures with greater accuracy and efficiency. Unlike competitors, Dandy offers their Chairside software for free, making it easier for practices to scan patients and submit lab cases. The company generates revenue through the manufacturing and sale of dental products based on these digital scans, along with providing clinical support and live scan feedback. Dandy's goal is to enhance patient experiences and improve operational efficiency for dental practices by facilitating the adoption of digital dentistry.
