Requirements

BS or MS in Engineering (Mechanical or similar discipline)
5+ years of related experience in product development
Ability to break down complex problems into first principles, generate a plan/approach to resolve the problems, and execute using a fail-fast and “progress over perfection” mindset
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering/physics fundamentals including heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanical design
Solid analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and relentless drive to identify potential problems and take responsibility for their resolution
Ability to quickly, effectively, and concisely communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues verbally and in writing
Adept at multitasking and responding quickly to shifting priorities without losing sight of longer-term projects and goals
Strong ability to articulate and advocate for ideas, and willingness to both challenge others and be challenged on the merits of ideas

Responsibilities

Lead R&D work on multiple projects as a primarily individual contributor
Perform hands-on engineering work in the lab every day, including building and modifying prototypes
Create and execute test plans, analyze data, and develop theories for product development
Drive product design through participation in design reviews and close collaboration with other teams
Mentor other engineers and Co-Ops on the team
Oversee technical performance workstreams on one or more projects
Work with cross-functional product development teams to represent what's possible from the technology and steer project direction
Challenge self and teams to push the limits of product performance
Balance deep technical expertise with cross-functional work, thinking, and leadership, addressing both big picture and detailed aspects daily
