Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in project engineering or related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience with equipment integration and commissioning
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and complex projects with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
  • Knowledge of equipment specification and qualification
  • Experience purchasing capital equipment
  • Creative in meeting project quality, timing, and cost landmarks
  • Ability to travel, domestic and international (about 10%)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical leader for lab and garage projects across the Warren campus and beyond
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including product engineering, advanced engineering, global groups, and key suppliers
  • Focus on systems related to electric propulsion, test measurement and control, PLC software, and mechanical/electrical systems supporting manufacturing and testing
  • Develop and implement equipment standards, oversee integration and installation, and drive issue resolution to improve uptime and ensure data integrity and product quality
  • Apply deep understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles to support equipment design, installation, and reconfiguration efforts
  • Lead and support projects that specify, source, engineer, integrate, install, and commission new capital test and manufacturing equipment into General Motors laboratories
  • Provide technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources
  • Design, develop, and validate test and manufacturing systems to support new technologies
  • Provide technical support for escalated issues at labs and garages
  • Lead continuous improvement engineering activities
