Senior Staff Design Automation Engineer
GroqFull Time
Senior (5 to 8 years)
Candidates must possess a degree in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field with equivalent experience. A minimum of 7 years of optical assembly, test, or packaging experience is required, along with a strong background in Silicon Photonics design, fabrication, test, CoWoS, and assembly. Proven hands-on experience in Photonics assembly development, particularly optical fiber alignment at chip or package-scale, building and qualifying Photonics assembly equipment, and analyzing assembly data is essential. Strong statistical analysis skills, including data visualization techniques for assembly data analysis and optimization of manufacturing techniques, are necessary. A solid understanding of quality control, statistical process control, and DOE techniques is also required, along with excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience in Silicon Photonics device design or fabrication, familiarity with photonics test structure design, and knowledge of AutoCad, Zemax, or other opto-mechanical software tools, as well as mechanical simulation software like Ansys mechanical, are considered advantageous.
The Senior Photonics Assembly Engineer will lead the development of Photonics assembly tools and processes for NVIDIA's next-generation Silicon Photonics products and platforms. Responsibilities include building and deploying high-volume fiber assembly tools and qualifying photonics assembly pilot lines for scaling NVIDIA's silicon photonics products. The role involves defining tool architecture, features, and functions, developing scalable processes for fiber alignment on large package body platforms, defining assembly flows, and owning assembly quality and reliability. The engineer will partner with assembly tool vendors for equipment building, installation, deployment, and qualification across manufacturing sites. Collaboration with internal design, fabrication, and packaging teams is crucial for developing new assembly requirements, flows, test structures, and leading new assembly processes. The position also entails collaborating with Photonics assembly partners to build pilot lines and train their engineers and technicians, as well as driving continuous improvements in assembly cycle time and quality/reliability.
