  • Qualification as a European Patent Attorney (EQE) or equivalent, or admission as an attorney-at-law
  • Scientific degree (BA, BSc, PhD or equivalent)
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in patent law, ideally within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience working in diverse, international teams and matrix organizations
  • Familiarity with emerging markets (METAP, APAC, China) is highly valued
  • Deep knowledge and experience in patent law, including freedom-to-operate analysis, patentability, litigation, due diligence, and prosecution
  • Experience supporting biosimilar and generic product development with strategic IP insights
  • Experience navigating complex regulatory and licensing environments
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead patent activities across emerging markets, with occasional global scope
  • Advise regional and country leadership on patent strategies for pharmaceutical development, licensing, and launches
  • Contribute to shaping the strategic direction of Abbott’s global patent team
