Requirements

Qualification as a European Patent Attorney (EQE) or equivalent, or admission as an attorney-at-law
Scientific degree (BA, BSc, PhD or equivalent)
Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus
5+ years of experience in patent law, ideally within the pharmaceutical industry
Experience working in diverse, international teams and matrix organizations
Familiarity with emerging markets (METAP, APAC, China) is highly valued
Deep knowledge and experience in patent law, including freedom-to-operate analysis, patentability, litigation, due diligence, and prosecution
Experience supporting biosimilar and generic product development with strategic IP insights
Experience navigating complex regulatory and licensing environments
Ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

Lead patent activities across emerging markets, with occasional global scope
Advise regional and country leadership on patent strategies for pharmaceutical development, licensing, and launches
Contribute to shaping the strategic direction of Abbott’s global patent team
