Requirements

  • Experience working on RTO/ISO issues in the Eastern Interconnect
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., energy, economics, law, policy, finance, engineering) + at least 5 years’ experience working in a relevant field OR 7+ years’ experience working in a relevant field
  • Understanding of regional electricity markets, regulatory structure, and stakeholder processes
  • General understanding of generator interconnection and transmission planning policy
  • Ability to self-organize and establish a start-to-finish plan for achieving a goal
  • Clear communicator in both speaking and writing; excels at concise information presentation in memos, emails, and PowerPoint slides
  • Ability to effectively tailor communication

Responsibilities

  • Work with Clearway business units to identify priority areas for offense and defense on regional electric market policies (e.g., data center integration, transmission and interconnection reform, capacity market evolution, new market mechanisms for grid flexibility and reliability)
  • Review proposed market and policy changes, identify opportunities and threats for Clearway, communicate them to relevant business units, and facilitate internal conversations on responses
  • Effectively manage consultants and leverage trade association resources to expand insights and information flow to Clearway business units
  • Develop and execute strategies to achieve Clearway’s goals in regional markets, including:
  • Become fluent in the “power map” and decision structure of each regional electric market
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings at RTOs/ISOs to represent Clearway’s interests
  • Build and maintain relationships with RTO/ISO staff
  • Work with peer companies, trade associations, energy buyers associations, state regulators, and other stakeholders to build alliances
  • Work with think tanks and consultants to develop and publicize reports and analyses supporting policy proposals
  • Strengthen Clearway’s relationships with FERC Commissioners and staff, as well as RTO/ISO leadership
  • Coordinate with Clearway's external affairs staff to synergize state, federal, and regional market advocacy
  • Provide thorough information on the status of policy proceedings and accurate estimations on outcomes to inform market fundamentals forecasts and business decisions
