Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review semi-annual consolidated financial statements and note disclosures, ensuring adherence to applicable accounting standards and guidelines
  • Prepare and review the annual provincial matching report and financial information for results release, annual report, and website
  • Prepare relevant materials for executive team, Disclosure Committee, and Audit & Actuarial Committee meetings
  • Perform analysis and analytical review to respond to review comments, understand key variances, and year-over-year changes
  • Support semi-annual term debt program updates and debt issuances in collaboration with legal counsel and treasury
  • Coordinate annual rating agency review meetings and internal reviews of rating agency reports
  • Manage the external audit process, including mid-year review and year-end audit of consolidated financial statements
  • Implement and maintain relevant controls over financial reporting
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies in accordance with relevant standards
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to internal stakeholders on complex transactions and new initiatives, including accounting position memos
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards across jurisdictions, assess impact, and prepare/present updates and recommendations to senior Finance leadership
  • Develop and maintain a network among pension plan peers to share best practices
  • Collaborate with external auditors on policy-related matters
  • Support other financial reporting requests (e.g., peer benchmarking, surveys, ad-hoc inquiries)
  • Make recommendations and lead implementation of operational improvement projects related to financial reporting
  • Support enhancements to financial data, systems, and reporting, including straight-through processing and data attributes
  • Support execution of special projects by researching requirements, analyzing solutions, and assessing impacts
