Requirements

  • Ability to work to all codes and regulations while making electrical installations, adjustments, and repairs in plant and office environments
  • Ability to assist outside contractors on major projects
  • Commitment to safe workplace practices and driving safety awareness through leading by example, including predictive, preventive, and proactive electrical maintenance analysis
  • Availability for overnight shift (Wednesday - Saturday, 5pm - 5am)

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, repair, and test electrical equipment such as programmable logic controllers, generators, motors, transformers, control panels, cables, power distribution systems, and associated switchgear
  • Install, maintain, repair, and test HVAC equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, CRAH units, air handlers, VAVs, FTBs, and associated systems
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate and correct problems
  • Advise supervisor or management immediately on whether continued operation of electrical equipment could be hazardous
  • Provide assistance during emergencies by operating generators, UPSs, switchgears, or other duties to keep facility operating electrically
  • Respond and troubleshoot electrical equipment problems within company-owned facilities
  • Assist in maintaining inspection and maintenance of life safety systems
  • Place conduit inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits, ensuring compliance with federal and state codes
  • Plan layout and install electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes; prepare sketches or follow blueprints
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
  • Instruct 1-2 lower level technicians and guide temporary and seasonal employees in general labor, basic work procedures, and safe working practices
  • Train “ready-replacement” technician
  • Develop, coordinate, and communicate proposed schedules for periodic testing of critical equipment and installations with Supervisor and key Data Center operations personnel
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned or requested
