Candidates must possess an MS or higher in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience, along with 5+ years of ML engineering experience. Required skills include 3+ years of experience with modern NLP tools and machine learning libraries like scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and spaCy, as well as 3+ years of experience with fundamental technologies such as vector search, embedding models, recommender systems, various machine learning techniques (supervised, unsupervised, deep learning, reinforcement learning), LLM orchestration, and RAG systems. Experience with testing, version control, strong problem-solving, communication, and influencing skills are essential, as is mentorship of junior engineers and contribution to DEIB initiatives. Familiarity with clinical/healthcare ML applications, current ML literature, OO design, Python, scalable services, and AWS services like SageMaker, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, and IAM are considered advantageous.
The Senior Machine Learning Engineer will lead the development of complex, scalable AI models and applications from inception to production, driving impactful ML technology initiatives to shape mental healthcare delivery. This role involves providing technical leadership, acting as a role model for AI/ML engineers, contributing to an inclusive technology community, and promoting high-quality code through code reviews. Additionally, the engineer will increase internal and external company visibility in the AI community through open source contributions and presentations, and will be responsible for the vision, alignment, development, deployment, and evangelization of language-based ML applications powering core Headspace features.
