Requirements

  • Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school or international equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in Compliance & Regulatory Counsels
  • Admission to practice law and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar (or equivalent in other jurisdictions)
  • Solid experience with US & EU licensing and registration regimes, including dual use, military, and nuclear
  • Experience in international trade law, including export compliance and sanctions
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills and excellent analytical ability
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal and regulatory concerns to non-legal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects

Responsibilities

  • Providing legal advice to the business on US Customs and Export Controls Rules and Regulations, Sanctions regulations
  • Leading trade compliance investigations and managing submissions and disclosures to the U.S. government as required
  • Working with a team dedicated to the management of the compliance program through a focus on continual enhancement
  • Managing ITC Compliance policies and procedures and key elements of the Trade Program with the Compliance program
  • Monitoring and communicating new international trade laws, rules, and regulations that impact the business through internal communications
  • Managing ITC Compliance training content and annual roll-out to support program initiatives
  • Leading the development of certain aspects of the Baker Hughes Trade Compliance Program
  • Providing legal advice to the business on Export Controls, Sanctions regulations, and Customs rules
