Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience (Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred)
5+ years of relevant and practical experience in infrastructure management, network administration, or system engineering
Proficiency in SQL Server architecture including configuration, clustering, replication, Always On availability groups, and disaster recovery strategies
Proficiency in database performance tuning and optimization such as query optimization, index management, execution plan analysis, and resolving blocking/deadlocks
Experience with cloud-based databases and services such as AWS RDS, GCP CloudSQL or AzureSQL
Proficiency in Windows Server environments and integration with Active Directory
Hands-on experience with upgrading and patching SQL Server instances across multiple versions
Proficiency in t-sql scripting and automation (Powershell or Python is a plus)
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
Strong communication and presentation skills
Experience in mentoring junior team members
Strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities
Leadership skills in guiding junior team members and providing technical mentorship

Responsibilities

Assist with design, implementation, and maintenance of complex database systems
Ensure database performance, availability, and security at an advanced level
Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and integrations
Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and foster a collaborative environment
Host sessions with cross-functional teams to review performance analysis, capacity planning, and optimization of database systems to ensure high availability and performance
Implement and maintain security measures to protect database systems from potential threats and vulnerabilities
Manage and optimize cloud-based database services like AWS, GCP, or Azure to ensure cost-effectiveness and scalability
Automate infrastructure deployment, configuration, and monitoring processes using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet
Perform other assigned job-related duties that align with the organization’s vision, mission, and values and fall within scope of practice
