Knowledge of business and financial markets, financial and credit analysis, and accounting principles and techniques, usually acquired through formal education and work experience

Minimum 5 years of fixed income securities or credit related financial analysis experience
Experience within the high yield space, specifically in the Technology, Media, or Telecommunications space is preferred
Responsibilities
Performs fundamental financial and credit analysis using publicly available information, integrating conclusions with outside opinions and rating agency data. Recommends suitability of securities for individual portfolios and commingled funds
Establishes provisional investment limits within delegated authority level and pending formal submission through credit committee approval process
Ensures that portfolio control systems are maintained and updated on a continuous basis, and that assigned issuers and sectors are reviewed, analyzed, and documented to fulfill internal/external regulatory requirements
Performs special analysis projects, such as valuation of nonmarketable debt securities, exchange offerings, and credit risk evaluation of derivative financial products
Negotiates covenant protection and other terms and conditions in private placement purchases of debt securities, to address credit risk aspects of such purchases
Oversees and coordinates portfolio review projects such as the Unrated Security and Below Investment Grade Reviews
Establishes communication links with outside rating agencies and other fixed income analysts
Participates with portfolio managers on assigned committees to develop investment strategy relating to cash and fixed income securities
Chairs one of the credit subcommittees organizing the schedule and work assignment of other analysts and preparing the agenda and minutes of subcommittee meetings. Serves as voting member on other credit committees
Provides training to less experienced staff members to enhance their understanding of credit risk evaluation, and helps in developing their analytical skills
