Requirements

Extensive experience in modeling, analyzing, and planning transmission systems
Knowledge of power system transmission analysis tools such as PSSE, TARA, ASPEN, PSCAD, or similar
Knowledge of programming languages such as Python
Understanding of new technologies related to power systems
Familiarity with industry and corporate transmission planning standards and regulations (Federal, State, and Local)

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain system models for transmission studies, including collection, review, and modification of electric system parameters
Conduct adequacy assessments and develop options to meet delivery objectives
Perform reliability studies, including power flow, transient stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transients analyses
Identify key technical issues and develop solutions
Represent the department and the company on industry-related committees (NEPOOL, NERC, NPCC, ISO-NE)
Participate with other utilities and the planning staff of the Independent System Operator (ISO) in regional transmission expansion studies
Employ teamwork with engineers in System Planning, Transmission Asset Strategy, and other operational personnel
Plan, develop, and implement the life cycle plan for transmission assets
Communicate analysis results and action plans clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Contribute to the development of the budget for Electric Operations through cost-effective programs and projects
Train junior staff in technical analyses and procedures
