Candidates should have 5+ years of data science experience in ads tech, with a preference for gaming, social media, or community platforms. A deep understanding of the ads tech ecosystem, including auction-based delivery systems, real-time bidding, audience data integrations, and data partners is required. The role also requires 4+ years of experience building performant dashboards using Looker or similar software with proficiency in designing intuitive visualizations, and 4+ years experience writing excellent SQL with proficiency in big data platforms. Additionally, 3+ years of experience in experimentation, including designing, running, and analyzing A/B tests for large-scale consumer products, is necessary. Proven experience building executive-level dashboards and reports using Looker, Tableau, or similar tools, a track record of working effectively with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes and advertiser performance, and strong communication skills to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights are also essential. Experience with incrementality testing, multi-touch attribution, and campaign effectiveness measurement in privacy-first environments, as well as experience working with first-party and third-party data, and attribution partners, is expected. Curiosity and collaboration skills are also highly valued.
The Senior Data Scientist will lead data science strategy and execution on ads product or GTM squads, partnering directly with Product, Sales, and Engineering leadership. They will build the analytical foundation for Discord's next-generation ad products using first-party data from over 200 million monthly active users, combined with strategic third-party partnerships. Responsibilities include collaborating with product and sales teams to develop learning agendas, experimentation plans, and solutions that drive product-market fit and advertiser performance. The role involves leading cross-functional data projects to deepen understanding of users, communities, and advertiser performance, which directly inform better ad products. Additionally, they will build plans to evaluate product or vertical performance, run experimentation, identify improvement opportunities, and share these learnings with cross-functional peers and executives. Applying 80/20 thinking to prioritize the highest-impact initiatives while championing user privacy and data governance standards across the company is also a key responsibility.
