Requirements

  • Knowledge of logistics data domains and systems such as transportation management, warehouse management, and forecasting platforms; business data requirements; database technologies; and distributed data stores (SQL, NoSQL)
  • Understanding of the business value of network planning data and the data ecosystem including governance, accessibility, and scalability
  • Knowledge of supply chain operations, logistics optimization, and cost-to-serve modeling
  • Knowledge of analytics, big data, and automation techniques
  • Knowledge of visualization tools and best practices (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Python libraries)
  • Knowledge of data quality management standards and enterprise data frameworks
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, and statistical methods for exploratory data analysis

Responsibilities

  • Identify and extract relevant data sources supporting network planning, transportation optimization, and capacity forecasting
  • Perform data quality checks to ensure network flow, cost, and capacity data integrity
  • Apply Walmart’s enterprise data strategy to enhance visibility and automation across transportation and fulfillment systems
  • Integrate multiple data sets to create a single source of truth for network capacity, cost, and service performance
  • Provide recommendations to business stakeholders on facility design, routing, and flow path decisions
  • Develop business cases for network redesign and expansion projects with projected ROI and measurable outcomes
  • Translate business strategy into analytics and reporting frameworks aligned with overall network goals
  • Translate complex supply chain challenges into analytical models or optimization problems
  • Identify appropriate statistical or machine learning tools to solve planning challenges such as facility capacity forecasting, route optimization, and modal analysis
  • Partner with data scientists to design and implement models that drive actionable insights
  • Design dashboards to monitor network KPIs including cost per case, utilization, service time, and throughput
  • Communicate results effectively to senior leadership through clear and data-driven visual storytelling
  • Mentor junior analysts in effective communication of insights
  • Profile and assess logistics and network datasets for completeness and accuracy
  • Drive process improvements for data collection and monitoring to maintain high data integrity
  • Partner with data governance teams to ensure compliance with Walmart’s data privacy and ethical standards
  • Conduct detailed analysis of demand variability, lane performance, and capacity utilization
  • Build predictive models and perform hypothesis testing to identify trends, outliers, and improvement opportunities
  • Support scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis to evaluate network strategies and capital investments
