Requirements

  • 7+ years of Public Relations or corporate communications experience
  • Strong understanding of the media, cultural, and policy landscape in Germany
  • Fluent German and English speaker
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with experience developing key messages and content for media as well as owned and operated channels
  • Self-starter able to prioritize in challenging situations and balance between two-sided community needs and business and seller priorities
  • Experience working on Trust & Safety issues and crisis management
  • Comfortable operating on a small team and getting in the weeds to produce results
  • Within commuting distance of Berlin, Germany hub

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead communications strategy in Germany, highlighting live commerce, sellers, and trust in platform policies (user safety, data privacy, etc.)
  • Advance Whatnot’s brand externally: Build and leverage relationships with media and third parties to educate on business, policies, and values
  • Create high-profile corporate and consumer campaigns: Collaborate with leaders to plan, develop, and execute communications plans; synthesize research, media, and industry insights for risks and opportunities
  • Build and scale issues management: Manage crisis responses and high-profile escalations in real-time; establish and own communications playbook for strategic and rapid responses
