Requirements
A minimum of 10 to 13 years of New Jersey workers' compensation claims adjusting experience with higher exposure claims
Additional experience handling Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont workers’ compensation claims preferred, including active adjusters license where required
Innovative, high energy, resilient, determined, assertive, clever, and competitive personality
Knowledge of territory’s workers' compensation laws
Skilled at developing strategies to bring claims to resolution
Ability to work from a home office with occasional travel (may require overnight travel to tri-annual claim reviews and/or departmental meetings)
Physical ability for sedentary work: prolonged sitting, continuous use of computer
Responsibilities
Investigating losses
Analyzing coverage, determining compensability and benefits
Establishing reserves and negotiating settlements
Conducting meetings on the phone with insureds and claimants
Preparing large loss reports to both internal and external audiences
Attending settlement conferences as assigned
Working closely with defense attorneys and other vendors including medical case management, surveillance, etc
Adjusting workers' compensation claims with high potential exposure using an aggressive and proactive approach
