Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Financial Engines)

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or a related field, and require a minimum of 3 years of experience in a software engineering role. Expertise in Python is essential, along with proficiency in a mainstream Python framework such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask, and experience constructing large-scale distributed systems. Familiarity with MongoDB, Redis, and Elasticsearch is preferred, as is experience working with generative AI frameworks like LangChain or RAG pipelines, and experience integrating applications with large language models from providers such as OpenAI or Anthropic.
The Senior Backend Engineer will design and build backend services to power Forethought’s core AI features, directly impacting the customer experience. They will collaborate with product and design teams to translate user needs into scalable backend solutions, scale and optimize the product to handle over 1 billion monthly interactions, and partner with AI/ML engineers to integrate LLM-based capabilities into production workflows. Furthermore, the engineer will drive technical excellence by owning projects end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to deployment and monitoring.
