About the Team and Role: This role is on our Poe product, specifically within the Creators team. We are seeking a talented Senior Backend Engineer to help shape the future of Poe by empowering bot creators and developers. You will:

• Build abstractions and tooling to accelerate bot onboarding.
• Collaborate directly with leading LLM providers to integrate their latest advancements.
• Improve our external API to support a thriving developer ecosystem.

This is a high-impact role with direct visibility into how creators build and scale on Poe.

As a senior engineer, you will drive feature planning and backend implementation within a fast-paced, cross-functional product cycle. If you are passionate about AI, excited by emerging technologies, and eager to work on a platform with global reach, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (design, product, data science, QA, and engineering) to advise on product roadmap and create innovative features and user experiences for bot creators.
• Iterate on our developer APIs using best practices for performance and reliability.
• Champion both user experience and sustainable, scalable code practices.
• Collaborate closely with LLM providers to easily integrate new LLMs on Poe.
• Participate in on-call responsibilities to ensure Poe provides a reliable and high-quality product.

Minimum Requirements:

• Availability for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's “coordination hours" (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time).
• 5+ years of experience working with large-scale codebases and systems, particularly web applications.
• 3+ years of experience in Python or a similar programming language.
• A passion for learning and continuously improving yourself and the team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Passion for API design, the developer ecosystem, and overall developer experience.
• Passion for code quality and designing elegant systems.
