Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum
  • Proven ability to work on production products through design, implementation, customer rollout, and support
  • Ability to decompose complex customer requirements into achievable technical requirements for the systems that make up the product
  • Knowledge and experience with Autonomous Systems, preferably a Cat Command system such as Command for Hauling, Dozing, etc
  • Strong working knowledge of the Caterpillar Command ecosystem in mining or construction, or other centralized control system architectures
  • Ability to work with a global team to communicate the Why’s and develop the How’s of agreed features
  • Detail-oriented and able to work well with and through others
  • Capable of making and communicating good decisions around trade-offs between time, resources, and quality
  • Willingness to work 5 days a week in the Mossville, IL office (less than 10% travel)

Responsibilities

  • Applying new technologies to improve the capabilities of an autonomous site
  • Decomposition of Customer requirements into Site System (L8) Requirements
  • Work closely with System teams (L6) to determine the best way to deliver site features and ensure clear documentation and traceability
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the Autonomous Site Solution
  • Help define the requirements and architecture for bringing an autonomous site system together, focusing on developing system integration requirements for multiple systems in a connected environment (onboard electronic systems, centralized office, site systems, process and people interactions)
  • Clearly document the details for the system and ensure understanding and compliance with each subsystem team
  • Communicate designs and tradeoffs with stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Constantly stay abreast of advancements in the Autonomy and mining industries
  • Provide evidentiary support while giving opinions or recommendations to influence decision making
  • Effectively communicate ideas and design tradeoffs to team members and stakeholders, document designs, requirements, and success criteria, explain project goals, keep leadership informed, and share updates with external partners
  • Use data-driven arguments, active listening, and tailored messaging to persuade stakeholders and achieve consensus
