Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 3+ years of experience in Payroll Accounting
  • Knowledge of US GAAP required
  • Strong technical accounting background
  • Experience with streamlining processes and/or design and implementation of accounting policies, automation and procedures
  • Experience working in NetSuite or similar ERP systems is a plus
  • Experience analyzing and working with large data sets and familiarity with data management tools such as Excel and Alteryx
  • Strong alignment to Remitly’s mission and values
  • High English fluency

Responsibilities

  • Prepare payroll-related journal entries for the general ledger across multiple subsidiaries
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts, including wages payable, payroll taxes, and benefits expenses
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities related to payroll
  • Prepare and file monthly tax returns in compliance with local regulations
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll operations and efficiency
  • Support ad hoc financial information requests, audit requests, and special projects as assigned
  • Analyze trends and variances in payroll-related accounts and financial system outputs
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures, maintaining proper audit trails for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure accurate accounting for monthly accruals and new business initiatives
