Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting
3+ years of experience in Payroll Accounting
Knowledge of US GAAP required
Strong technical accounting background
Experience with streamlining processes and/or design and implementation of accounting policies, automation and procedures
Experience working in NetSuite or similar ERP systems is a plus
Experience analyzing and working with large data sets and familiarity with data management tools such as Excel and Alteryx
Strong alignment to Remitly’s mission and values
High English fluency

Responsibilities

Prepare payroll-related journal entries for the general ledger across multiple subsidiaries
Reconcile payroll-related accounts, including wages payable, payroll taxes, and benefits expenses
Perform month-end and year-end closing activities related to payroll
Prepare and file monthly tax returns in compliance with local regulations
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll operations and efficiency
Support ad hoc financial information requests, audit requests, and special projects as assigned
Analyze trends and variances in payroll-related accounts and financial system outputs
Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures, maintaining proper audit trails for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure accurate accounting for monthly accruals and new business initiatives
