Requirements

  • Deep understanding of Canadian taxes, including filing and preparing tax returns, and ability to explain concepts simply
  • Proven ability to research tax rules and regulations to provide accurate advice and maximize client tax returns
  • Experience using collaboration software (e.g., Google Meet, Zoom) and managing a daily schedule of appointments
  • Ability to navigate multiple online applications simultaneously
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills for efficient, accurate, and precise guidance
  • 3+ years of professional tax preparation experience working on complex Canadian T1 tax returns
  • In-depth experience preparing and reviewing complicated tax returns including self-employment income, rental income, foreign investments, cryptocurrency, and foreign income
  • Adept at using professional tax preparation software
  • Prior experience using Wealthsimple Tax (definite asset)

Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized 1-1 tax guidance to Wealthsimple clients preparing and submitting personal tax returns through Wealthsimple Tax
  • Review returns prior to NETFILE submission
  • Research complex tax scenarios to maximize the client’s tax return
  • Answer tax questions to ensure accurate information is provided by the client
  • Engage in 1-1 service using Google Meet, with follow-up email support
  • Share and learn tax knowledge with the team of tax professionals
  • Assist with Audit Protection tickets as needed
