Requirements

  • BS with 10+ years or MS with 7+ years of relevant experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting
  • Strong background in protein biochemistry, including expression, purification, and characterization of a variety of recombinant proteins
  • Industry experience required
  • Experience in hands-on large-scale recombinant protein purification using FPLC-based column chromatography including affinity, ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction, and size exclusion

Responsibilities

  • Perform as a hands-on protein scientist to help fully enable Septerna’s Native Complex™
  • Optimize and carry out workflows to express, purify and characterize soluble and membrane proteins from mammalian, bacterial, and insect cells
  • Assist in the development and execution of platforms for parallel screening of protein production constructs to enable optimization of protein quality and yield
  • Responsibilities will include eukaryotic cell culture, automated column chromatography (FPLC/HPLC), microscale protein purification, and protein QC
  • Work in a collaborative environment to support discovery, biophysics, and structural biology efforts for internal drug discovery programs
  • Data analysis, documentation, and presentation in group and project team meetings
