Requirements

Candidates must possess an advanced degree in science, such as a PhD, PharmD, or MD, and preferably hold a Certified Medical Professional Practitioner (CMPP) certification. Five or more years of relevant job experience in medical publications, including manuscripts, posters, abstracts, and presentation materials, are required. Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills, along with the ability to analyze scientific data and manage projects within tight deadlines, are also necessary. Experience with established medical editorial processes and ethical guidelines, such as AMA style and ICMJE, is required. Experience in oncology, hematology, cardiovascular medicine, and/or respiratory medicine is a plus.

Responsibilities

The Scientific Director will be responsible for the planning, development, and oversight of scientific content for assigned accounts, working with the Group Scientific Director to provide strategic medical communication recommendations. They will independently lead execution of content development activities, supervise Associate Scientific Directors, and liaise with staff to manage writing, research, data-checking, and reference annotation tasks. The role involves conducting background research and ensuring compliance with scientific and ethical guidelines.
