Position Summary

As part of Ontada's Real World Research team, the Director of Research is responsible for the conduct and oversight of hematology/oncology real-world evidence (RWE) studies. This role will lead and manage a team of research professionals executing RWD-based studies related to descriptive characterization, treatment patterns, real-world outcomes, comparative effectiveness, and other pharmacoeconomic and health outcomes research (HEOR) topics for the life sciences industry. The Director of Research will ensure the team executes quality research studies in a timely manner and will provide scientific leadership and support for sales activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Management:
    • Leads and manages research professionals executing RWD-based studies.
    • Supervises the activities of researchers with the goal of creating a highly collaborative work environment committed to outstanding performance and outcomes.
    • Develops staff through coaching and training, providing broader mentoring and guidance to ensure RWR missions and goals are achieved.
    • Assigns project work and manages team capacity.
  • Research Oversight & Execution:
    • Ensures high-quality standards and on-time delivery within budget for all stages of the research.
    • Accountable for the timely and quality delivery of studies.
    • Leads the development of new research processes, tools, and modeling protocols.
    • Develops and maintains departmental processes/procedures with an eye to continued optimization.
  • Client & Sales Support:
    • Principal contact for escalations resulting from all phases of a research project.
    • Contributes to proposal development by partnering with sales professionals to provide scientific leadership and strategy throughout the sales cycle.
    • Leads development of proposals on to medium to high complexity topics or approaches.
    • Coordinates strategic client activities across peer research study teams to ensure consistency in client methods, procedures, and documentation.
  • Strategic Contribution & Guidance:
    • Provides scientific leadership and support for sales activities.
    • Provides guidance and direct input in addressing relevant issues from regulatory, legal, or other challenges to the company's studies and represents the company in key regulatory meetings.
    • Sets and carries out objectives and fosters a culture of performance, continuous improvement, and collaboration with leadership, peers, and team members.
    • Responsible for driving performance and cross-functional collaboration to successfully execute high-quality studies that exceed customer expectations.
    • Facilitates communication within and among teams.
    • Coordinates with other managers and other functional areas to achieve organizational goals.
