Requirements
Extensive experience in software/technology roles (e.g. senior engineer, architect, technical lead, or manager)
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; postgraduate qualifications an advantage
Broad knowledge of software design, development, and delivery (e.g. architecture, cloud, distributed systems, APIs, data platforms, digital technologies)
Proven leadership and consulting skills, including managing projects/teams and engaging senior stakeholders through structured technical interviews
Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to convert complex technical concepts into clear documentation and presentations
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret legislation and apply it to real-world technical projects
Experience managing multiple projects, delegating effectively, and overseeing budgets and timelines
Experience mentoring and developing colleagues and fostering high performance
Commercial awareness and interest in business development; experience with R&D tax credits/innovation incentives is beneficial but not essential
Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of software and technology clients and lead technical assessments for R&D tax credit and innovation incentive claims
Conduct structured interviews with senior client stakeholders to identify qualifying R&D and articulate technological advances
Prepare and review robust, compliant technical reports in collaboration with tax, costing, and finance teams
Lead and develop a team of technology consultants through coaching and on-the-job training
Support business development through proposals, pitches, client workshops, and innovation funding reviews
Stay current on emerging technologies and trends and apply these insights in client work and thought leadership
Lead technical interviews, manage key relationships, and advise on R&D eligibility
Assess projects, draft technical narratives, and ensure they align with legislative criteria
Coach consultants, manage resources, and promote a collaborative team culture
Contribute to proposals, campaigns, and represent Deloitte at industry events
