Requirements

  • Good knowledge of complex electronic systems and the associated reliability issues (other engineering subject areas may be considered for candidates with the right strengths)
  • Ability to deliver Reliability Case Reports and supporting information (FMECA, reliability prediction, etc.)
  • Experience of more recent reliability prediction methodologies, such as FIDES (advantageous)
  • Fully appreciates that reliability is not just a number, with experience of reliability planning, analysis, and testing during development
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the relationship between the reliability life-cycle and the system engineering processes
  • Track record as an effective teammate with strong interpersonal and influencing skills, and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multi-national team
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ideally degree qualified or equivalent
  • British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship (security clearance requirements)
  • Ability to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS)

Responsibilities

  • Utilise reliability skills to influence the reliability aspects of technically sophisticated products
  • Understand the system and its operating context to mitigate reliability risks
  • Construct a convincing reliability case, balancing time and cost constraints
  • Apply pragmatism, ensuring reliability results from good engineering, not just numerical targets
  • Ensure customer satisfaction using a range of techniques and approaches for cost-effective evidence
  • Commit optimum effort to progressive reliability assurance, delivering a lean but effective reliability program
  • Contribute to internally funded research packages
  • Participate in undergraduate and graduate development programmes to shape next generation of reliability engineers
  • Engage in potential international work opportunities
